Reactions have trailed twitter after right activist Deji Adeyanju was brutalized by Pro Buhari Protesters yesterday at the human right commission in Abuja.
It will be recalled that suspected miscreants on Monday attacked and disrupted a peaceful protest organised by a coalition of civil society groups over the continued detention of #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore.
The attack which happened despite the Presence of Police men at the scene of the event, saw Adeyanju being beaten Mercilessly by suspected miscreant.
Reacting to the incident, Presidential Candidate of the people’s Democratic Party at the 2019 presidential elections Atiku Abubakar tweeted: “Like I said before, without rule of law, there can be no rule at all. Govt must be seen to be working to protect those who hold contrary views. As such, perpetrators of the brutality against the activist, Deji Adeyanju must be brought to book. Their act stands condemned. –AA”
Award winning Nigerian investigative Journalist, Fisayo Soyombo in a tweet condemned the actions of the allegedly hired protesters and prayed that Karma catches up with the miscreants.
“All those who mercilessly descended on Deji Adeyanju today, I promise you: Karma will find you. The politicians who hired those thugs and the policemen who watched this happen, I can assure you that you’ve not gone scot-free. Your comeuppance will find you. ALL OF YOU!,” @fisayosoyomobo tweeted.
Also condemning the actions of the anti Sowore protesters was a member of the people’s Democratic Party who urged that government and other agents responsible for the brutalization of Adeyanju be brought to book.
Tweet by @realFFK read: “The brutal attack on Deji Adeyanju @adeyanjudeji this morning is totally unacceptable. This represents a new low by those that are behind it. We hold the Government and their agents responsible and accountable for this wicked act. May God judge those behind it!”
Tweet by other Nigerians read:
@ DemolaRewaju tweeted: “This assault on Deji Adeyanju may spark happiness in the ‘hearts’ of evil supporters of a tyrannical regime but it is only an invitation to anarchy – it stirs anger in the hearts of revolutionaries who do not even know it yet. When dictators go this route, their end is not far.”
@obi_Nwosu tweeted:” I will block anyone that calls PDP an opposition party. Deji Adeyanju almost died doing what the major opposition should be doing. Look how they almost massacred the armless boy. Nigeria currently has no opposition”
@OgbeniDipo tweeted: “From the pictures and videos we have seen so far, Deji Adeyanju nearly lost his life today, protesting and demanding that the government should obey court orders. Some of the thugs who beat him up have no basic education. And I doubt any arrests were made. It’s a shame.”
@ose_anenih tweeted: “In combat sports, it is illegal to kick a man on the ground. A kick to the head is a killing blow. Look at this image. This is what pro-Buhari protesters did to Deji Adeyanju, because he asked GMB’s regime to obey court orders. A killing blow. For fighting for our democracy.”
