The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised Muslim faithful in the country to observe their Eid-al-fitr celebration at homes to curb further spread of coronavirus pandemic.
Giving this advice at an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) was the FRSC Unit Commander in Sagamu, Ogun, Mr Iyanda Taofiq who said that this period was not the time to move from one place to another all in the name of celebration.
According to Taofiq, the advise had become necessary to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) across the country.
Enjoining people to observe social distancing in vehicles and use of facemask in public, the unit commander also encouraged Nigerians to practice good hygiene.
“Observe the Government rules and regulations concerning COVID-19 to curb the pandemic,” he said.
He urged the faithful to restrict their movement by obeying whatever the government directive asked them to do and desist from going to restricted places.
Taofiq admonished motorists to ensure that their vehicles were properly maintained before putting them on the highway as getting help if there was a problem would be difficult.
Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria according to NCDC is 6677.
