Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has directed that all major and community markets in the State be opened on Saturday, May 23 as Muslims prepare for Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
Issuing this directive in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olusegun Ajiboye and made available to newsmen in Akure on Friday, the Governor explained that his decision is to enable Muslim faithful in the State engage in shopping activities ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr festivities
It will be recalled that Governor Akeredolu had earlier banned daily market activities in the State as part of measures to curb the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“Meanwhile, it must be noted that the earlier order restricting business and market activities to Tuesdays and Thursdays in the State resume immediately after tomorrow,” the statement added.
