Makoko is one of the slum communities in Lagos Nigeria with a population of over 85,000 people. Established in the 19th century, much of Makoko rests in structures constructed on stilts above the Lagos Lagoon. Makoko is a neighbouring community to Iwaya on the waterfront and Oko Baba.
