Dr. Anthony Etim, a medical personnel at Jahun Local Government area of Jigawa state has been quarantined following suspicions of Lassa fever virus.
Confirming the development on behalf of the state’s ministry of health was The Acting Permanent Secretary of the ministry Salisu Mu’azu, who identified the the victim as a staff of Medecins Sans Frontieres, also known as Doctors without borders.
The suspected case is now being treated at the isolated Infectious Disease Control unit in Jahun hospital.
He explained that Mr Etim reportedly developed the fever symptoms following an official engagement at Internally Displaced Persons Camps (IDPs Camp) in Borno State.
Mu’azu noted that state government is taking precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease .
